Oil Types And Suitable Oil Viscosity For Chevy Spark

The Chevy Spark is one of the most reliable cars with different engine sizes. Knowing the best oil type suitable for your Chevy Spark engine is essential.

The oil type also depends on your vehicle’s size and engine type.

It is important to take note of the viscosity of the oil you will be buying for your engine.

If you do not know what oil viscosity is, it means the level of ease that the oil flows at a particular temperature.

For instance, lighter or thinner oil has low viscosity and flows easily in low temperatures.

Depending on the engine type, the recommended oil viscosity for your Chevy Spark is 5W-30 or 0W-20.

The 5W-30 is a thinner type of oil viscosity when placed at a low temperature.

When in hot temperatures, it has a grade of 30, which gives it a lesser viscosity in high temperatures.

This type of oil is referred to as a winter viscosity grade because it performs better in lower temperatures.

The 0W-20, just like the 5W-30, is also a winter viscosity grade oil that performs better when used in cold-start performance.

It is thin when used in lower temperatures and has an easy flow.

The oil also protects the car engine during high temperature of up to 400℉.

2013-2015 Spark Oil Capacity and Oil Type

The Chevy Spark models from 2013 to 2015 were made to be very reliable.

The models used the 1.2L V4 Ecotec engine, which could produce up to 84 horsepower at 6400 RPM.

The engine can also provide a torque of 83lb-ft at 4200 RPM. It comes with an LS (Auto) Hatchback trim.

This generation of Chevy Spark has an oil capacity of 4 quarts.

The recommended oil viscosity that can be used for these Spark models is SAE 5W-30 or 0W-20.

These engine oils are the best for the Chevy Spark generation because they are quicker and provide the best hot and cold weather protection.

It is also important to remember to get a new oil filter for your engine when changing the oil to prevent premature clogging. We recommend Mobil 1 Oil 5W-30 for these models.

2016-2022 Spark Oil Capacity and Oil Type

The Chevy Spark 2016 to 2022 model generation uses the 1.4-liter Ecotec engine with the LS (auto) Hatchback trim.

The engine can create a horsepower of 98hp at 6,200 RPM. It also has a torque of 94lb-ft at 4,400 RPM.

The engine’s name implies that it has 4 inline cylinders with a double overhead cam (DOHC).

2016 to 2018 models can consume 4.2 quarts of synthetic motor oil.

The suitable oil viscosity for these models is 5W-30 or 0W-20.

The 2019 and 2020 models have an oil capacity of 3.7 quarts.

The proper oil viscosity for these models’ engines is 0W-20. For the 2021 and 2022 models of the Chevy Spark, the required oil capacity is 4.2 quarts of 0W-20 oil viscosity.

Keep in mind that the required oil will work at any temperature.

I recommend Mobil 1 High Mileage Full Synthetic Motor Oil 0W-20 for these models of the Chevy Spark.

Final Thoughts

It is important to note the oil capacity, oil type, and viscosity most suitable for your Chevy Spark engine.

Many do not take this seriously, so they run into problems with the engines.
